Disability Lookbook Photographer Grant - Apply Online

Telling Their Stories: Disability Lookbook Photographer Grant

To Illustrate the impact, importance and usefulness of employing people with disabilities and how employment (no sheltered workshops) enhances the quality of their lives and allows for financial independence, NCCDD is creating an interactive digital Lookbook.

DESCRIPTION:
On behalf of NCCDD, O’Neill Communications is seeking THREE (3) qualified freelance photographers active in the North Carolina photography community for its Lookbook project. One photographer from each region of the State: Mountain, Piedmont and Coastal will be selected. Each photographer will be capturing people with disabilities in their employment and community settings in such ways that portray their lifestyles without insinuating or highlighting stereotypes. Some knowledge or involvement in the disability community is a plus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Submit a minimum of TEN (10) impactful photos a month (February through April) with no less than 30 photos submitted in total. Each photo will require a release.
  • Find and interview subjects of the Lookbook; however, O’Neill will provide a series of potential contacts and/or subjects if individual photographers need recommendations.
  • Attain copy information for each photo submitted, i.e. subject name, location, employment information and photo description. Length of copy will not exceed 150 words.
  • Participate in collaborative conference calls with Creative Director on photography procedure, progress and evaluation.

BUDGET:
This grant is funded in the amount of $10,000 per photographer all-inclusive of travel, editing, equipment maintenance, assistants, etc.

Applications are welcome from any freelance photographer who resides in North Carolina and who can present a portfolio of high-quality work that highlights an understanding of photo composition, lighting and posed subjects as well as live-action photography.

Submit resumes and current portfolios to [email protected] with “Application: Lookbook Photographer” in the subject line. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2018 at 5:00 PM (EST).
