SecMandyCohen headshotsmFeatured Speaker
Mandy K. Cohen, MD
Secretary, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services

Secretary Cohen will introduce the EveryBody Works NC campaign to the local business and disability communities and discuss efforts to close the 45-point unemployment gap between working-age people with disabilities and those without disabilities.

Secretary Cohen was appointed to her cabinet-level post by Governor Roy Cooper in January 2017 and the department manages the delivery of health and human-related services for all North Carolinians, especially the state’s most vulnerable citizens – children, elderly, disabled and low-income families. Her remarks are expected to include comments about the state’s opioid crisis, Medicaid and social services programs.

Meet and Greet Local Support Services

After the Secretary speaks, local nonprofits and governmental agencies that are part of the critical social services community will introduce their organizations to the business community.

Participating organizations will be representing:

  • Workforce Development
  • Vocational Rehabilitation
  • Law Enforcement
  • Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
  • Mental Health
  • Substance Abuse
  • Service and Care Providers

All area business/community leaders interested in expanding their employment base or in social service/social justice issues are invited to attend. Please RSVP by January 22 to The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce by calling 252.441.8144 or emailing [email protected]
