RALEIGH - June 26, 2018 — An organization that serves North Carolinians with developmental disabilities is seeking the public’s help on their five-year plan. The North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities works on behalf of roughly 200,000 people living with a developmental disability in the state.

Every handful of years, the organization develops a statewide plan that represents its complete review of services and issues within North Carolina. The plan outlines objectives, goals and activities that they plan to implement to help bring about change. The current five year plan was broke up into three goals:

Goal 1 -- Increase financial security
Goal 2 -- Increase Community Living
Goal 3 -- Increase Advocacy

Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with the North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilitie’s Executive Director Chris Egan for a look at the feedback their seeking from in their five-year plan. The plan will then help determine how money and resources are allocated.

The deadline is June 30, 2018. Anyone can submit their thoughts, but the organization is seeking feedback particularly from those with disabilities in their family members.
